Expo 2015 con gli occhi della crafter (e senza fare code..) - Expo Milan 2015 from a crafter's point of views (and without queues..)

Abito molto vicino a Milano, e in più ho ricevuto i biglietti in regalo (grazie suoceri!!), perciò era abbastanza scontato che prima o poi andassi a visitare questa benedetta Expo. Come al solito tutto si è ridotto molto più al poi che al prima, cioè a ottobre; cioè all'ultimo mese; cioè al delirio.
Per me un gruppo di dieci persone è già una folla che mi dà ai nervi, e il mio compagno è l'uomo con meno pazienza di tutto il pianeta (che bella coppia eh), ergo abbiamo deciso di seguire una regola: si guardano solo i padiglioni senza fila. Così ne vediamo di più e non scleriamo.. in fondo dappertutto c'è qualcosa di interessante e bello, no? --> motto della crafter ottimista
E proprio perchè sono una crafter, e tale si nasce e si rimane sempre, è con questi occhi che ho guardato, quelli dell'artigiana, della creativa.
D'altra parte ciò calza a pennello: l'Esposizione Universale nasce nell'Ottocento per mostrare a tutti la bravura dei Paesi partecipanti nell'industria, nella cultura, nell'arte, nei prodotti.. e cos'è tutto questo se non creatività?
Perciò ecco il mio mini-reportage fotografico:

Expo 2015 con gli occhi di un'artigiana (e senza fare code..)

In questo inizio del mese di ottobre, ultimo dell'Esposizione, ci sono già stati giorni con code di 7 (sette!) ore per alcuni padiglioni: una faccenda per me totalmente inconcepibile.. forse forse 7 ore di coda le farei per ottenere l'elisir per dimagrire mangiando solo lasagne e pizza, oppure per una fornitura gratis a vita da Micheal's. Perciò imperativo categorico: non faremo code.
Poichè ci sono più di 50 padiglioni a Expo, oltre ai cluster, cioè raggruppamenti di padiglioni più piccoli, di certo la roba da vedere non manca; di sicuro c'è qualcosa di bello e interessante anche negli allestimenti degli Stati meno famosi e "fighi".
Forti di questa certezza siamo partiti di buon'ora in modo da essere ai cancelli mezz'ora prima dell'apertura; circa 40 minuti di coda (eh sì, questa abbiamo dovuto farla per forza) e siamo entrati.
Ti dò subito un consiglio scontato: appena vedi un padiglione senza fila, fiondatici dentro; tieni i cluster per dopo: in quelli non c'è MAI fila. Alcuni Paesi non li vedrai proprio, a meno che tu voglia visitarne solo due in tutta la giornata e passare la tua gita ad Expo in piedi spintonata da anziani (ebbene, anche gli anziani spingono e sono impazienti.. roba da non credere) e assillata da bambini urlanti.
I cluster sono zone tematiche dove Paesi che non hanno potuto o voluto farsi un padiglione tutto per sè sono raggruppati in strutture più piccole a seconda delle loro risorse o aree climatiche: ad esempio il cluster Zone aride, o quello Caffè eccetera. Quasi nessuno se li fila, purtroppo (ma per fortuna per me); noi invece li abbiamo vistati tutti, più i padiglioni con nessuna o pochissima coda.
Abbiamo fatto un errore: abbiamo visitato prima i cluster, la mattina, quando invece c'erano alcuni padiglioni nazionali ancora semivuoti, pensando (illusi!) che sarebbero rimasti tali anche dopo. Sbagliato! al pomeriggio anche alcuni di questi erano presi d'assalto. Perciò ripeto: guarda i padiglioni al mattino fintanto che sono liberi, al pomeriggio vedrai i cluster.
L'occhio artigiano ha osservato, naturalmente, i prodotti manuali in esposizione; l'Expo è sostanzialmente due cose: una spettacolare mostra di architettura e una versione gigante della Fiera dell'Artigianato (se sei di Milano sai di cosa parlo.. se no vieni a vederla almeno una volta!!).
Ho raccolto così molte foto, impressioni, spunti dagli oggetti che ho visto e dagli artigiani che li hanno realizzati.
Ecco allora il mio racconto per immagini dei Paesi meno noti, forse meno appariscenti nelle architetture degli stand, ma che mi hanno colpita per i bellissimi effetti visivi dei loro prodotti.

I live near Milan, and plus I received the tickets as a gift (thanks in-laws!!), so it was quite obvious that sooner or later I'd go to visit Expo. As usual it finally was later rather than sooner, that is, in October; that is, last month; that is, absolute delirium.

For me, a group of ten people is already a crowd that gets on my nerves, and my partner is the man with less patience on the planet (what a nice couple..), ergo we decided to follow a rule: we'll only visit pavillions without queue. So we can see more without getting mad .. basically everywhere there is something interesting and beautiful, is there? -> Motto of the optimistic crafter.

And just because I'm a crafter, which you born and remain always, it's with these eyes that I watched, those of the craftsman, the creative.

Indeed, it fits perfectly: the World Exposition was born in the nineteenth century to show all the skills of the participating countries in industry, culture, art, products .. and what is all this if not creativity ?

So here's my mini photo report:

Expo 2015 through the eyes of an artisan (and without having to queue ..)

At the beginning of October, the last of the Exposition, there have been days with queues of 7 (seven!) hours for some pavilions: that's for me totally inconceivable .. maybe I'd suffer seven hours of queue to get the elixir to lose weight by eating only lasagna and pizza, or for a free lifetime supply at Micheal's. Therefore categorical imperative: we will not do queues.

As there are more than 50 pavilions at Expo, as well as clusters, ie groups of smaller pavilions, sure there is no lack of nice thing to see; for sure there is something beautiful and interesting also in the installations of the less famous and cool countries.

Strengthened by this certainty we left early to be at the gates half an hour before the opening; about 40 minute of queue (yes, this one was necessary) and we entered.

I give you some obvious advice immediately: once you see a pavilion without queue, go immediately inside; keep the cluster for later: there is NEVER queue in clusters. Some countries will simply be impossible to see, unless you want to view only two in all day and spend your trip to Expo standing shoved by grannies (yes, even the elderly are impatient and push .. that's incredible) and upset by screaming children.

Clusters are thematic areas where countries which couldn't or wouldn't have a pavilion all by itself are grouped into smaller structures depending on their resources or climatic areas: for example, the cluster Drylands, or the Coffee one etcetera. Almost no one has queues, unfortunately for them (but fortunately for me); we visited all them plus the bigger pavillions with short or no queue.

We made a mistake: we visited cluster first, in the morning, when in fact there were some national pavilions still half-empty, thinking (deluded!) that they would remain so. Wrong! in the afternoon even some of these were assaulted. So I repeat: look at the bigger pavillions in the morning as long as they are empty, in the afternoon you will see clusters.

The eye of the crafter noticed, of course, the handmade products; the Expo is basically two things: a spectacular exhibition of architecture and a giant version of the Craft Fair (if you live in Milan you know what I mean .. if not come to see it at least once !!).

I collected so many photos, impressions, ideas from the objects I saw and the craftsmen who made them.

Here then is my story in pictures of the least known Expo countries, perhaps less sparkling in the architecture of the stands, but that struck me for the beautiful visual effects of their products.

Archaeological treasures near you

One of my biggest interests and passions is archeology.
With my boyfriend we spend our holidays in search of ruins, crumbling remains and, of course, visiting the beautiful archaeological parks, big and small, for which our country is famous in the world.

Yesterday I had to attend to a bureaucratic job at the University in Milan: a perfect opportunity to make a nice trip, being already in the city.

So we decided to take a look to the Roman amphitheater of the town: one of the (few actually) evidences of the Roman presence in Milan.

The arena, built in the first century AD, is one of the largest in northern Italy; it's open to the public (for free !!) and thanks to recent excavations we can see parts of the exterior walls and foundations; there is also a small antiquarium with the relics found in the arena, an exhibition about ancient games and pieces about gladiators and the topography of the area.

Compared to the most famous Italian sites, such as Pompeii, Rome, Ravenna, and a thousand others, this is certainly a very small park, and perhaps, for the less experienced, not of immediate interest; however we appreciated the opportunity to meet our passion in a place so close to home and that generally is not immediately connected to history: Milan is known for many other things, but the cultural, artistic and historical heritage of this city should not be underestimated.

Yesterday the day was sunny, hot, the city was crowded with lots of different and interesting people because of the Salone del Mobile (the famous furniture fair); plus I ate a delicious meal in a gluten free bakery and - we don't miss anything! - an ice cream at Grom's .. what  more ??

We took some pictures in the antiquarium which will inspire me to enrich my collection of archaeological jewels replicas. You know how much I enjoy reproducing pieces of our museums, like this roman necklace inspired by the archaeological finding in glass clay kept in the Antiquarium of Boscoreale (Naples), from the excavations near Pompeii.

Soon I will work at a roman jewel from Milan's!!

Tesori archeologici vicino a te

Uno dei miei più grandi interessi e passioni è l'archeologia.
Con il mio fidanzato passiamo le vacanze a caccia di rovine, resti diroccati e, naturalmente, a visitare i bellissimi parchi archeologici grandi e piccoli per i quali il nostro paese è famoso nel mondo.

Ieri dovevo sbrigare un'incombenza burocratica in Università a Milano: occasione perfetta per fare una bella gita essendo già in città.

Abbiamo deciso così di dare un'occhiata all'anfiteatro romano: una delle (poche per la verità) testimonianze della presenza romana a Milano.

L'anfiteatro, costruito nel I secolo dC, è uno dei più grandi del nord Italia; è aperto al pubblico (gratis!!) e grazie ai recenti scavi sono visibili parti delle mura esterne e delle fondamenta; c'è inoltre un piccolo antiquarium con i reperti ritrovati nell'arena, una mostra sul gioco nell'antichità e pezzi riguardanti i gladiatori e la topografia della zona.

Rispetto ai più famosi siti italiani, come Pompei, Roma, Ravenna e mille altri, è certamente un parco piccolissimo e forse, per i meno esperti, non di immediato interesse; tuttavia abbiamo apprezzato la possibilità di soddisfare la nostra passione anche in un luogo così vicino a casa e che in genere non è immediatamente collegato alla storia: Milano è nota per molte altre cose, ma l'aspetto culturale, artistico e storico di questa città non è per niente da trascurare.

Ieri la giornata era piena di sole, caldissima, la città era affollata di tantissime persone diverse e interessanti per via del salone del mobile; in più ho mangiato un delizioso pranzetto in una panetteria senza glutine e, per non farci mancare niente, un gelato da grom.. cosa chiedere di meglio??

Abbiamo fatto alcune foto nell'antiquarium cui mi ispirerò per arricchire la mia  collezione di riproduzioni di gioielli archeologici. come sapete mi diverte tantissimo riprodurre i reperti dei nostri musei, come questa collana romana ispirata al ritrovamento in pastra vitrea conservato all'antiquarium di Boscoreale, presso Napoli, proveniente dagli scavi vicino Pompei.
