Un breve video della lavorazione "whitewashed" sull'argilla polimerica: una patina bianca che dà un effetto gesso rustico molto carino sull'argilla polimerica.
Va eseguito su una texture, cioè segni, incisioni, incavi in modo da farli risaltare e creare un motivo decorativo.

Ho realizzato i vasetti in argilla polimerica con colori pastello, uno dipinto e due con texture.
Le texture possono essere realizzate con timbri, fogli di gomma appositi (qui trovi quelli realizzati da me) ma anche con strumenti comunissimi, come stuzzicadenti, viti, tappi di pennarelli, cannucce.. qualsiasi cosa trovi in casa che abbia una bella trama da imprimere sulla pasta.

Una volta texturizzata la superficie e cotto il pezzo, l'applicazione del whitewashed è molto semplice: qui uso colore a olio, perchè è più coprente e dà una finitura liscia all'oggetto; puoi usare anche la tempera, ma risulterà un po' più tenue e dovrai fare più passaggi.

Stendi il colore su tutta la superficie dell'oggetto con le dita facendolo ben penetrare nei solchi della texture. Subito dopo rimuovi l'eccesso con carta da cucina in modo che le parti non texturizzate rimangano pulite e il disegno resti in evidenza.

Lascia asciugare molto bene (se usi il colore ad olio almeno una giornata, con la tempera anche un'ora basta) poi vernicia con apposita vernice per paste polimeriche non lucida.

A short video on whitewashed technique on polymer clay: a white patina giving a rustic chalck effect. It's used on textured clay, with scratches, engravings, grooves to make them outstand and creating a decorative pattern.

I made the planters in polymer clay pastel colors, one is painted and two with textures.

You can create textures with stamps, texture sheets (you can find mine here) but also with simple tools: toothpicks, screws, pen caps, straws.. anything you can find at home with a nice pattern to impress on the clay.

Once textured the surface and cured the piece, the whitewashed technique is really easy to use: here I use oil paint, because is more intense and also gives a beautiful smooth finish on the surface; you can use also poster paint, but it's a bit more tenuos and you'll have to make more layers.

Spread the paint on the surface with your fingers making it penetrate in the engravings of the texture. Then immediately wipe away the exceeding colour with a paper to leave the non textured parts clean and the pattern in evidence.

Let dry very well (if you use oil paint wait one day, with poster paint one hour is enough) then coat with non glossy varnish specific for polyme clay.

Cambiare è l'essenza del crescere: una frase così azzeccata per la mia ultima creazione!

Da un po' di tempo avevo voglia di esplorare qualcosa di diverso, uscendo un po' dal.. seminato; amo sempre creare gioielli e continuerò a farlo, ma qualche chiacchierata con un'amica creativa mi ha convinta che era ora di tentare un settore nuovo.
Un po' il Natale in arrivo (terribile, lo so, pensare al Natale ad ottobre.. ma bisogna portarsi avanti, le creazioni che voglio preparare sono tante e le ore della giornata sempre poche...), un po' la tentazione di provare nuove tecniche che mi tormenta sempre, infine la linea più minimal che lentamente sta prendendo la mia creatività mi hanno fatto decidere di cimentarmi con l'homedecor.

Oggetti non più da indossare per abbellire sé stesse ma per la propria casa: in fondo anch'essa è parte di noi, parla di noi e, forse più di tutto il resto, racchiude i nostri ricordi e la nostra essenza; perciò totalmente in linea con la mia mission "indossa qualcosa che ti racconti, che parli di te" ho voluto allargare obiettivi e creatività verso questi soggetti.

Eccola dunque, la mia ultima fatica: per la casa, ma in fondo per noi, perchè la nostra casa ci rispecchia quanto poche altre cose!

Mi piacerebbe sapere cosa ne pensate: vi dedicate a curare l'aspetto della vostra casa come il vostro? chi entra nel vostro appartamento riuscirebbe a comprendervi già solo guardando i mobili e i colori?
Nel mio caso assolutamente sì: la mia casa è molto, ma molto eclettica; mi piacciono le sedie scompagnate, le librerie moderne dai colori accesi accanto al comò artigianale degli anni cinquanta, i mappamondi antichi sotto alle locandine dei film.. il mio arredamento va di pari passo col mio modo di vestire, di mangiare, con le mie amicizie e i miei interessi. A pensarci bene è incredibile come ci rispecchia!!

Change is the essence of growing up: a sentence so apt for my latest creation!

Since some time I wanted to explore something different, going a bit "out of the sown"; I always love to create jewelry and will continue to do, but some chat with a crafty friend convinced me it was time to try a new sector.
It could be 'cause Christmas is coming (terrible, I know, thinking about Christmas in October .. but you have to move forward, I want to prepare so many creations and the hours of the day are always too few ...), or the temptation to try new techniques that always haunts me, or finally the more minimalist shape that is slowly taking my creativity, made me decide to try with the homedecor.

Items no longer to wear to beautify yourself but for our home: after all it is part of us, too, it speaks of us and, perhaps more than anything else, embodies our memories and our essence; so, totally in line with my mission "wearing something that speaks of you, that is about you," I wanted to broaden goals and creativity towards these subjects.

Here it is, my latest work: for the house, but in the end for us, because our home reflects us as a few other things!

I'd like to know what you think: do you take care of the appearance of your home as of yours? those who enter your apartment would be able to understand you just looking at the furniture and colors?
In my case, absolutely yes, my house is very, very eclectic; I like mismatched chairs, modern libraries in bright colors next to the fifties handmade dresser, antique globes beneath movie posters .. my homedecor goes hand in hand with my way of dressing, eating, with my friendships and my interests. Thinking about it is amazing how it reflects us !!
